| QBIC is proud to celebrate its 25th anniversary at the upcoming conference scheduled for April 11th and 12th at the Pullman Resort Cairns. This milestone coincides with a pivotal moment in the Passenger Transport Industry, which is navigating its most significant transformation since the cessation of trams and the recognition of the Omnibus industry as Queensland’s leader in passenger transport in 1969. With a recent shift in political leadership in Queensland for the first time in a decade, what does the immediate, medium and long-term future hold for Operators, Manufacturers, Industry Suppliers, Passengers and Regulators? The 2025 QBIC Conference, scheduled for April 11th and 12th at the Pullman Resort Cairns, offers a unique opportunity for the industry to gain a comprehensive understanding of the upcoming changes and the opportunities they may bring. Operators, Industry Suppliers and all levels of Government must collaborate about these changes, understand their implications and create partnerships to successfully deliver them. The industry is confronted with various challenges, including various state adjustments to passenger transport contracts including schools, technological advancements, safety considerations, Olympics preparation, the need for decarbonization, along with evolving societal demands. Collaborative efforts within our sector are crucial to ensuring the long-term sustainability of public passenger transport in Queensland. In April, Cairns enjoys exceptional weather, with average temperatures ranging from 22 to 29 degrees. The sunny days create an ideal environment for outdoor activities, making it a popular time for tourists to explore the region’s stunning reef, hinterland, beaches, and other attractions during the school holidays.
